When the NFT space entered the bear market, it naturally also affected the engagement inside the NFT communities. For past few weeks, we’ve seen the lowest engagement in different servers since we started managing NFT communities, with some days having 0 engagement. So we had to find a way to bring our community members back.

Here’s what we learned last week, when we successfully increased our engagement up to 300%.

  • We have to engage our members with topics that they are really into. This is the first step that we did to get back their attentions.
  • Give them a space to talk about what they like.
  • Genuinely be curious about their interest as you converse with them.
  • Instead of trying to push the core topics of your community into the conversation, associate them instead. This way you are not boring them.

You adjust to their likes and preferences, at the same time it helps encourage recall for your community.

The reason behind this is scientifically proven. The way our brain forms and stores memories is by association. So when the brain receives information, it groups that information with other information that is already there over time. And then it solidifies itself as a memory by repeated association with that older piece of information.

The act of associating your community with the the stuff that they like, which they think about everyday, will build that memory of your community with fondness. This is why it is actually OK to get a little off topic, because if you can circle back to the core ideas of your community, getting off topic is actually pretty powerful.

At the core, we’re doing a service to our members, so we would need to be able to adjust to them and not vice-versa.

We really hope this helps you navigate your community through this bear market.
